Musings on Some Fears Regarding the Prospect for High Culture

I am unsure whether I will publish this article, which will be a repetition of themes bemused so many other times upon in this Netlog. Howbeit, I feel that I must speak what I will. The Culture Question, that which I care deepest about, weighs heavily gainst my mind. It is my thought that high culture, the high cultural outlook, or that collective system of a noble, pains-takingly time-shapen form of repute which the Deutsch intelligentsia and I refer to simply as Culture (as opposed to sociality or civilisation), has been forsaken by all parties, Left, Right, or centre in the West. We are about to witness the result of a nominally 'civilised' (industrialised) yet degenerate society. I wonder if this is the key to the experience of a dying civilisation, where liberal capitalism is monstrous, but any attempt to build socialism will inherit the cultural degeneration of the former, coalescing into something more malignant than even fascism?
The slang-bangers, like the Goths of ald, are introducing a criminal sociality into the grandurate of the public consciousness, which the fascists are even promptly exploiting to a worrisome extent for their own gain. The underburgs [suburbs] truly are stupid to believe that the slang-bangers will consider then allies gainst prevailing society. Some say it is nay degeneracy, but just some harmless ,,evolution''! Having children denounce all expressions of friendship as ,,glazing'' and being addicted to 'inject[ing] it in my veins' every substance possible, are signs of a dying society. Then there is the 'rising again' of redneckisms, the ,,yalls'', ,,finnas'', ,,deces'', and such ,,Southron'' sorts of degenerations which accompanied the slaughter of a few hundred-thousand Yankees by these wretched reactionary vulgars. Any one who so chuses to revive redneck sociality is to me a mortal fiend which life has been wasted upon. Neo-Confederate ,,socialism'' is just the kind of horrific system being referred to in the previous paragraph, a form of ,,socialism'' I should rather fight to the death gainst.
The unwillingness of the (post-)modern Left to engage in discourse with the concerns of the gross pro-cultural theorists of recent history— the Nordaus, Arnolds, Spenglers, Eliots, Leavises, Abramses, Lasches, and so forth —inspires a chilling fear of little confidence that the Left remotely understands the questions of gemeanship, organic intellectual tradition, the material and social conditions embedded in particular socialities and cultural artefacts (sedimentary ideology), and the importance of cultivating a high cultural outlook with fully socialised, if not proletarianised, elites (masters in a domain of high cultural production and societal mentorship). If all avenues towards the rejuvenation of these endangered Goods are made anathema by the vanguard of the Left, then it will become necessary to wage a cultureclash as a rebellious oppositionist gainst the iron fist of said vanguard. As a good, albeit Reform-Leninist, confronting in open resistance the vanguard of the Left is not at all my preferred method of resolution. Howbeit, if the Yezhovites deign to shoot culture in the head... let here the loyal stand.
Culture, material, intellectual, and social, is an essential plank of my world-view. I suppose this qualifies me as a 'Cultural Marxist', or a Prussish Tory Junker Marxist, to perhaps align the term a bit more accurately. Degeneracy leaves nay hope in the experience of the fine, which may be the most direct, material presentation of what is oft called the divine, the Good, or the virtuous, or sacred. It is culture which kindles the sparkle of my mind; a degenerate form of abundance actively repulses me as a reasonable night-mare, or the more probable scenario of a degenerate world without abundance: a horrific degeneracy of austerity. I find the 'Aryan body fetish' and the 'Wokerite sex fetish' to be mirror representations of a vulgar bio-material cum ,,spiritually virtuous'' result of liberal individualism replacing more substantial and collective manners of culture.
Far from being a reactionary, however, I place the height of culture to arise fairly late in European history. The height of culture, balancing both majesty and accessibility, was within the hundred-year range of 1770-1870. This age was the supreme age of all areas of culture, and was the final age to identify culture as a Good in itself, consensus-wide. At the turn of that yearhundred, expressions of culture, material or mental, began to become beacons for societal persecution. The degenerate mass-companies can not profitably match their vulgar commodity rubbish to the sublime craft of the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Yearhundreds. Instead, the Gucci scum of the world and their thuggish gangster patronage attempt to appeal to criminality, sexuality, biological identity, brand-allegiance, and other vulgar, animalistic traits. Paper and binding degenerate from a sacred vault to preserve the fount of manwit so labouriously cultivated and curated through many hundreds of generations, into being nought more than decorative toilet paper for apes to humour themselves with. Whether one is a vulgar ape or an upright man is the ultimate determination of culture.
I do not wish to abet a vulgar socialism of any kind which so proclaims its allegiance to those ruinous anti-culture elements which I have detailed above. Any system which ennobles those base and degenerate traits is to me a system of evil destruction.
Reading such books as Napoleon's Library, Dressed to Rule, and ironically The Intellectuals and the Masses, whose thesis I read in the inverse (the author is anti-culture, and probably liberal), along with any work regarding New England, head amongst them American Nations, Albion's Seed, and The Making of an American Thinking Class, all go to demonstrate in one panoramic mural that gross cultured treasury we have lost. Something went terribly awry, and has progressively been eating away at the few remaining vestiges and spaces of culture. As I said, the Left has been particularly afflicted with this miseath [coath] of decay , this anti-cultural fetish. Comrade Stalin had to fight very hard to preserve but a few aspects of high culture from the lunacy of the proto-Wokesheviks, and the CPC took gross pains in the Campaign Gainst Spiritual [cultural] Pollution during Reform and Opening Up to ensure that the liberal burgher cancer did not infect Chinish culture. That such desperate defences were even necessary is an alarming demonstration of the sheer dangers arrayed gainst culture, a warning of the tale of history. Does it come as any wonder that America is largely the land of this ultra-degeneration? Yet it must be something grosser, a phenomenon more expansive, for the West is falling into a process of increasingly degenerate deconstruction... perhaps originating not with the United States (though certainly exacerbated there), but with that cancerous liberal shop-keeper mentality which has spread over the United Kingdom, eradicating the best of British culture just the same as every one else's. The desert, and more recently NATO, is another source, ideologically.
The Enlightenment was a Good, was a stride towards the Good, and I will not be shaken eathly from this view. Liberalism, capitalism, and burgher republicanism (id est expanded oligarchy by a nicer name and a harmful conception of pseudo-equality) were atrocities to the health and hope of man. This is one of the reasons a cultured gentleman (gentilhomme) such as His Majesty Napoleon I was necessitated. But even under His Majesty's restoration of culture and functional governance, the degenerate cult of the Woke-Aryan body-form was emerging. Hence highly cultured wigs were replaced for the sexual perversion, and identitarian fetish, of natural hair exposure. Now, the degeneracy is so advanced that hats nay langer cover the head in public— and so it goes.
The heroes of high culture will ever be fighting a rearwards action, for degeneracy is eather, cheaper, and more popular, especially amongst the middling-class vulgars and the pseudo-radical smallburghers, not to absolve the rednecks amongst the peasants, of course. Being attuned to the transcendental chord without succumbing to misguised anti-Western influence as such (see the Orthofasc insurgence) is a fragile place, a place occupied by the best, a place of aristostik. Just as I will not support a socialism hostile to high culture, I will alike never support an anti-Western, and absolutely not an anti-Anglo, plot.
Some may accuse me of Orwellian conservative nationalism (Tory anarchism?), but I have been accused and denounced so many times before. Comrades of renowned credential have had similar views to those outlined here, for instance in the Communist Party of China and Workers' Party of Korea. I have already mentioned Comrade Stalin's noble struggle to preserve some aspects of culture. Furthermore, whilst I certainly censure the uncomradely demeanour of Orwell-Blair and his collusion with the deep state, I need only point out that he has nay monopoly over these ideas, nor may the correctness of an idea be determined by the autonomous actions of an adherent to it (see the Hitler curing cancer query). If one wishes to purge me for Orwellian reaction, then, in order to prove consistent, Comrades Michéa, Lasch, and Stalin must also be purged. In that case, I am in good company.
The final matter I will add to this discussion is regarding sedimentary ideology in cultural artefacts and vestiges. Firstly, a luminating quote by a Redditor who clearly grasps this concept. This is from 'ThatsUnbelievable', eight years ago: 'Hip hop does not cause degeneration but it does accelerate it. A normal [man] hears hip hop and rejects it as buffoonery. A [man] [who has] been broken by a society that has degenerated hears it, can relate to it, and is exposed to additional degenerative ideas presented in an appealing manner. This analysis is exactly right. In any cultural entity, whether material or intellectual, there remains a layer of the entity's originating material and social conditions, what I am calling (for the moment) sedimentary ideology. This latent, immanent ideology is what makes religion, such as scripture, so dangerous. The congregation might be liberal now, having experienced religious tyranny and gruesome lapses in moral judgement by their alders, but scripture from Iron Age racial theocracies ensures that, as soon as things start going Weimar-wards, future generations might rediscover that committing mass-murder against infidels and apostates is actually kind of hip. Who is to say we are not the superior chosen race, just following our creator's orders? Whatever Iron Age savagery is recommended in a ,,good'' book stands the chance of infinite probability-potential to cause further harm.
Books are an obvious example of this phenomenon, but every other facet of culture and sociality possesses such a latent influence. Speech is filled with such sediments, as Comrade Gramsci well kew, but Leftists never the less seem incapable of recognising to in the drawing of pre-emptive conclusions from. Music and songs were noted by the Redditor. But even such a thing as architecture carries such ideological sediment. It also used to be quite well-known that dress carried a very gross amount of this sedimentary meaning, though alack, it seems (post-)modern society has largely forgot this fact, and the specific meanings behind all but the most 'statutory', prevalent pieces have become obscure to mass-society.
Even New England itself is not unaffected by this severe degeneration wracking the West. Despite its captivation by the monstrous entity on its southern border, New England has maintained its decorum admirably. Regardless, the dark and fell land of the South is rising in might and manners of manipulation over the Federal State Empire. We are living in the æra of the Puritan Descendancy, and I fear the years will only grow swarter ere the dawn comes again.
Be that as it may, these were some thoughts troubling me in the wake of (re)reading some of those works. I am a bit more at eath in having written these matters down. If nothing else, this article has helped me fulfil the article quota for this month, eh?
