Amazon and Wal-Mart are Socialist? Here's How.

I should preface this by stating that, in their current organisation, these two companies are not socialist, but with a partnership between the New Form government and them, and a minor reshuffling and reeducation of some managerial staff, Amazon and Wal-Mart could easily be made powerhouses of the Restored (New) Economic Programme.

First, we must understand the ideological thought that belays New Form socialism. New Form socialism does not nationalise all industry, nor does it privatise it, it does not spend inceßantly, but it also does not exercise austerity, it does not abolish corporations, but it does not let them run loose. The executives at Wal-Mart and Amazon are able to be New Form socialists, it is not a contradiction. New Form socialism is, as we made clear in the first post, a peculiarly Anglo-American style of restructuring, it is found in the notions of the folcweald and the shopkeeper.

The real problems can be traced back to the middle-managers, rather than the corporate board of directors or the owners of stock. To quote Comrade Leonid Abalkin again:

'Are the qualifications of the personnel in the economic management system high enough for adopting new ideas in the economic field?'
'No, on the whole they are not. Most personnel in the management system do not have adequate economic knowledge, especially up-to-date knowledge. We have not yet learned to think in terms of market, wholesale trade, and financial levers. It is so very interesting that, whether in Rußia or in the United States, once education decays from learning science, economics, and real socialism, to learning pseudo-science like gender, sexuality, and reverse-racism (hallmarks of Liberal capitalism), the former studies deteriorate, causing two distinct countries to suffer from the same problem of half-witted middle managers, and an economically illiterate, greedy populace at large. Enterprises are not the enemy, a lack of knowledge is.

Of course, under a New Form socialist state, Amazon and Wal-Mart will be obligated to work with the government as their most important partner, but they should not recoil in disdain for this like idiotic libertarians would tell them to. A New Form socialist government will be staffed with economically educated members of the intelligentsia, and has mutually beneficial objectives for the profit and improvement of industry and commerce. When the government, society, and commerce work together, everyone earns not only a larger, but a tastier slice of pie. This can be seen in the production statistics of the USSR during the Gorbachev years (and specifically 1987, 1988, 1989): industrial production and the basic level of wealth increased for all strata of the Union. This was accomplished by industrial leaders joining in a joint course with Comrade Gorbachev, as opposed to both of them (commerce and the government)firing at each other in a duel harmful to all.
